Affected by Typhoon “Maysak,” many areas in Guangxi have recently experienced extreme torrential rains and flooding, causing several reservoirs to overflow and develop breaches. Cities such as Nanning, Guigang, and Qinzhou have been affected. As of July 8, urban flooding in Guigang, Guangxi, was particularly severe, resulting in widespread power and water outages as well as blocked roads, effectively turning parts of the city into isolated enclaves.

In the Gangbei District of Guigang, Guangxi, severe urban flooding left nearly 6,000 students and faculty members at the Guangxi Logistics Vocational and Technical College trapped by nearly 3 meters of standing water. At 5:00 p.m. on July 8, rescue teams from China Aneng, equipped with a motorized pontoon bridge—hailed as the “aircraft carrier of water rescue”—rushed to the Guangxi Logistics Vocational and Technical College in Guigang to evacuate the stranded students and faculty.
The powered pontoon bridge was developed and manufactured by China Harzone, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC). Featuring an integrated vehicle-bridge design, self-loading and unloading capabilities, self-propulsion, rapid deployment, and high maneuverability, it can be used as a single unit or quickly assembled to form a ferry gate bridge or a floating bridge across waterways. A 50-meter-long emergency powered pontoon bridge set has a total load-bearing capacity of 70 metric tons and can transport over 700 people in a single trip. It ensures the smooth crossing of heavy equipment and vehicles over water obstacles such as rivers and lakes, effectively addressing the challenges of large-scale personnel evacuation and cross-water rescue operations.
The moment the Aneng rescue team arrived on campus with their emergency powered pontoon bridge, the trapped students and teachers erupted in excitement. The heavy-duty engineering equipment, normally used for building bridges and repairing roads, now spanned the surging floodwaters to create a sturdy “path home.” This not only fully demonstrated the unwavering conviction of the Aneng Rescue Team—the “Iron Army of Hydropower”—but also vividly embodied China Harzone’s sense of responsibility and commitment to “taking emergency safeguard as its own task and contributing to human safety.”
