An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck Ludian, Yunnan Province on August 3rd, 2014. The focal depth was 12km. The earthquake caused a landslide on the upstream of Hongshiyan Hydropower Station under construction. As a result, Niulan River was blocked and a dammed lake formed. The water level in the river reach rose. The lives and property of thousands of people on the upstream was seriously threatened.
The rescue headquarters decided to excavate a sluice channel. However, large-scale excavating machinery was needed for cleaning after blasting. At that time, the traffic was paralyzed. No excavators could be delivered to the site with a helicopter or an inflatable boat. At this critical moment, HZ Ribbon Pontoon Bridge produced by China Harzone played an important role. Rescue officers and soldiers used the raft of pontoons based on the ribbon pontoon bridge to transport an excavator to the site. On August 12th, a sluice channel was excavated and the danger was completely eliminated.
